Elizabeth Golden is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Architecture at the University of Washington. She received her BArch from the University of Arkansas and an MS in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University, GSAPP.

She is a registered architect in the states of New York and Washington, and is also licensed with the Berlin Chamber of Architects in Germany. 听She has over a decade of professional experience gained while working with internationally recognized firms in Rome, New York, and Berlin鈥搈ost notably with Renzo Piano / Christoph Kohlbecker GmbH.

In 2013, she co-founded听, an architectural practice currently active on projects serving communities in Afghanistan and Niger.听,听耻苍颈迟别诲鉃僤别蝉颈驳苍鈥檚听proposal for urban housing in Niger鈥檚 capital, was recognized by the AIA Seattle with an Award of Merit in 2016.

As project architect, Golden听coordinated听the design and construction of the听the largest school for girls in Afghanistan. The project was听a collaborative venture between the aid organization听, the Balkh Province Ministry of Education, the late architect听, and students at the University of Washington. The school has been featured by听Architectural Record,听Architectural Review, and the听BBC World Service.

Golden鈥檚 teaching activities concentrate on design, materials, and building technology, with an emphasis on sustainable systems. Her research focuses on the relationship between high performance and ‘low’ technology.
